Utilization of AG-Cycle will allow to substantially alleviate high fuel costs in energy intensive industries, such as cement, fertilizers, glass, steal production and water desalination. The implementation of AG-Cycle in these industries is expected to be the simplest compared with other applications, because it will only require the substitution of conventional industrial burners with AG-Burners.
For example, thermal energy accounts for around 30-40% of the price of cement; around 30% of that of desalinated water produced by Multi-stage Flash (MSF) and Multi-effect Distillation (MED) methods. Accordingly, utilization of AG-Cycle in these two industries will reduce the cost of the product by 18% and 24%, respectively. These percentages translate into very substantial numbers. For example, by 2025 the global water desalination market is expected to exceed $32 bn.
In cases when MSF water desalination plants use electricity produced by on-the-site gas turbine power generator(s), the cost of the final product will be reduced by means of reducing the cost of natural gas electricity. Estimates reveal that AG-MSF desalinated water will cost nearly as much as that produced by Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO).
